I ride through Mid Hills campground, Mojave National Preserve, and select site 22, where I've camped previously

Site 22 was not burned by the 2005 fires like half of the camp sites. It has great views toward the Clark Mountain Range without being quite as exposed to the mountain winds as some of the adjacent, higher camp sites. (It does get windy up here!)
